Where can I find the current job openings at Goodgame Studios?

You can find all job openings and descriptions of the positions on our website under Jobs.

How should I apply? Who should I contact?

Please send your complete application, preferably by email, to the contact named in the job offer. Speculative applications can be sent to . You will receive a prompt response from a member of our friendly HR team.

As we have different contacts for each division and department, you will find the correct person listed in the job offer or on our XING company profile. , Head of Human Resources, is the contact for all other inquiries. Please bear in mind that, as a technology company, we prefer applications by email.

What application documents are required?

Please submit the following documents in full as PDF to ensure that the application process goes smoothly:

  • An application letter that clearly explains why you want to work with us in the chosen position and why you think you are the ideal candidate. Please also indicate your desired salary (except for internships).
  • A detailed, uninterrupted CV
  • References from your last two employers
  • A high school diploma or your most recent diploma
  • Your certifications or certificates of academic or vocational training
  • If you are applying in the areas of art or design, a relevant portfolio (e.g. some of your best work from the field you want to work in, focusing on quality instead of quantity) is also important
We would also very much like to know how you heard about the vacant position.

Does Goodgame Studios also offer internships?

We offer full-time, paid internships for a minimum duration of three months. Six months would be preferred. In many areas, you have a very good chance of being hired after the conclusion of the internship. Your talent and your effort are crucial for this. The internship can be a working semester in your studies or can be undertaken directly after graduation or the completion of your study program.

Can I do an internship with Goodgame Studios while I’m still at school?

Unfortunately, we can’t offer internships for high school students, because you can’t do or learn much in the IT field in two weeks, as and there is no opportunity for meaningful instruction in such a short time. We also don’t want you to just sit around and get bored. If you can offer us more than 3 months of your time and are at least 16 years old, you are welcome to apply for one of our advertised internships.

Does Goodgame Studios offer apprenticeships?

As of 2013, we now train IT specialists in application development and system integration. Alternatively, however, our internships are set up so that you can get a huge amount of work experience, as you will be fully immersed in the work process from the beginning. In particular, the areas of game design and game balancing aim at continued employment after the internship, but there is a possibility of continued employment in many other areas as well. The same goes for our trainee positions.

Are there positions offered for students?

Not only do we let students complete internships, we also supervise graduate positions in some areas on demand. If you are interested in writing a practical thesis, send us your application and your proposed thesis topic as a speculative application. In some cases, we offer to keep interns on as student employees. For college graduates, we offer a variety of trainee and junior positions.

Is it possible to work part time, work from home, or as a freelancer?

Goodgame Studios has its headquarters in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld. Local attendance in our office is mandatory, and we don’t allow working from home because teamwork and efficiency would suffer. We only offer full-time positions. We only work with external freelancers in the areas of graphics and translation. In general, we refrain from working with external development studios, service providers, and agencies in terms of outsourcing.

Can I send an unsolicited application?

If none of our available positions are your dream job/training program, but you’re still convinced that you would be a perfect fit for us, feel free to apply proactively stating your preferred field of work!

How does the application process proceed?

Goodgame Studios strives to handle applications as quickly as possible and to avoid long waiting times. However, it may take 1 to 2 days before you receive confirmation of receipt. You can usually expect a response in 1-2 weeks. We will then arrange a telephone interview and/or face-to-face interview with you. After that, it usually only takes a few days before we make a decision about hiring.

Are there assessment tests?

In some areas, such as Design, Community Management, Development and Sales, tests before the actual interview are common practice for the majority of positions so we can get a better idea of your practical skills. All tests or samples of your work that you send us will be handled confidentially, and, like all other application documents, will never be used by our company.

How can I prepare for the interview?

Please familiarize yourself not only with us and our games, but also and especially with your scope of duties. Carefully read through the job description and prepare for specific questions relating to your area of expertise. It would also be a good idea to read our latest press releases and our blog entries.

What can I expect during the phone interview?

The phone interview lasts about 15-30 minutes and is conducted by an HR member or someone working in your area of expertise, depending on availability. In addition to questions about your curriculum vitae, you should expect questions about your area of expertise as well as your skills and software knowledge.

What can I expect during the interview?

The interview lasts about 30-60 minutes. In general, an employee from the personnel department, someone from the department and a member of the relevant department will be present. Here, you can also expect questions about your experience and your skills and abilities.

The Company

What is working at Goodgame Studios like?

You’ll find our offices in Westend Village in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld. You can expect large, open offices in which people work as a team. The direct exchange between employees is very important to us. Despite our rapid growth, we have been able to maintain the atmosphere and benefits of a start-up company. A flat hierarchy lets us make decisions quickly, and every member of staff is there to help you with any questions. In addition, we have flexible working hours with main hours between 10:00-17:00. How many employees does the company currently have?

As of March 2013, there are about 400 people working in our Hamburg offices, and the number keeps growing!

What advancement opportunities are there within the company?

Because of flat hierarchies, every employee has the opportunity to take on responsibility and determine his own career path. Other key requirements include a keen desire to learn and the dedication to achieve something as a team. We offer internal workshops, trade literature and journals, and online workshops for our employees as opportunities for further training. Direct project references are provided, and we also offer individual training and trade fair visits so you can stay up-to-date. There are many opportunities open to our employees to develop through initiative and commitment; for example, through appropriate certifications and dual studies in connection with employment with us. Every kind of individual further education is, of course, sponsored by Goodgame Studios.

What languages do I need to know?

Despite the increasing number of international employees, Goodgame Studios is a German-speaking company. However, the most important information will be made available company-wide in German and English. Meetings are already being conducted in English in the teams where not everybody understands German, and for this reason a basic knowledge of English is absolutely essential. We offer a range of English courses to help everybody feel comfortable in these English-speaking meetings. We offer a German course for employees who don’t speak German. Additional language skills may be required depending on the position.

Is there a dress code?

At Goodgame Studios, everyone gets to wear whatever they want! The main thing is that you feel comfortable. However, a shirt or a blouse tends to be more appropriate for formal business meetings.

Formal salutations?

We’re all on a first-name basis in our company, also when addressing applicants. For business contacts, however, we start with “Mr.” or “Ms.”.
