Goodgame Studios – a further developer of social games from Germany – has now made all games accessible via a portal as well. Interesting Alternatives (Internet World Business, 02/21/11)

Game and app developers often forgo Facebook, too. “There’s too much competition among social games there,“ says Christian Wawrzinek from Hamburg based Goodgame Studios. “The costs for reaching an individual player are much higher, the marketing budget exceeds the development costs for a lot of games on Facebook.“ Goodgame has partnered with several networks in order to avoid being dependent on a single channel of distribution.

Erhard’s Great-Grandchildren (Handelsblatt, 02/18/11)

Without the 500,000 Euros that the Hamburger Sparkasse and the KfW Banking Group (two public credit institutions) granted as a loan, Christian and Kai Wawrzinek might have become a dentist and lawyer after all. Christian Wawrzinek earned a doctorate in orthodontia, his brother Kai passed the German law exam. Instead of a lab coat and a robe they now wear pullovers and sneakers to work – in Hamburg’s “Westend Village“, where British American Tobacco used to produce cigarettes and where agencies have now found a home. Here about 100 employees, mostly software engineers and graphic artists, develop internet games that are being played more than 70 million times a month according to company information.

Robert Schmidt and Tim Schrader work as programmers at the Hamburg games studio „Goodgame Studios“.
